How to Use the Card Centering & Grading Tool

Welcome to the Arkezon Grading tool! This tool allows you to check the centering of your trading card and calculate the final grade based on our Arkezon Grading Scale. Follow these steps to use the tool effectively:

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Upload Your Card Image

  1. Upload Your Card: First, upload a clear image of the trading card you want to analyze. Ensure the image shows the entire card within the frame, including the borders.

  2. Align the Card: Position the card correctly so that it is centered in the image. Make sure the edges of the card are visible and not cut off.

Step 2: Align the Guide Lines

  1. Align the Upper Red Line:

    • The tool will show a red line representing the upper border of the card.

    • Move the red line until it aligns perfectly with the top border of your card.

  2. Align the Lower Blue Line:

    • The tool will show a blue line representing the lower border of the card.

    • Move the blue line until it aligns perfectly with the bottom border of your card.

  3. Align the Right Orange Line:

    • The tool will show an orange line representing the right border of the card.

    • Move the orange line until it aligns perfectly with the right border of your card.

  4. Align the Left Green Line:

    • The tool will show a green line representing the left border of the card.

    • Move the green line until it aligns perfectly with the left border of your card.

Tip: You can click and drag the lines to adjust their position.

Step 3: Check the Alignment

  1. Ensure the Lines Are Positioned Correctly:

    • Double-check that the red line is aligned with the top edge of the card, the blue line is aligned with the bottom edge, the orange line with the right edge, and the green line with the left edge.

  2. Check the Card’s Centering: Once the lines are properly aligned, the tool will automatically display the horizontal centering (e.g., 48/52) and vertical centering (e.g., 52/48).

Step 4: Calculate the Final Grade

  1. Click on "Calculate": After aligning the lines, click the "Calculate" button.

  2. View the Final Grade: The tool will then calculate the final grade based on your card's centering. It will show a numeric grade from 1 to 10, according to the Arkezon Grading Scale.

Step 5: Compare with the Arkezon Grading Scale

  1. Understand the Grading Scale:

    • The calculated grade (e.g., 9.5, 8, etc.) corresponds to your card's centering quality.

    • You can compare the result with the Arkezon Grading Scale to understand how well your card performed.

  2. What the Grades Mean:

    • Grade 10 (Gem Mint): Perfect centering with a 55/45 or better ratio for both horizontal and vertical.

    • Grade 9.5 (Gem Mint): Very slight off-centering, still within acceptable limits (60/40 for front, 65/35 for back).

    • Grade 9: Small off-centering allowed (60/40 front, 70/30 back).

    • Grade 8: Noticeable off-centering, but still a high-quality card.

    • Grade 7 and below: The further off-center, the lower the grade.

Example Calculation

  • Horizontal Centering: 48/52

  • Vertical Centering: 52/48

Once the centering is calculated and the lines are aligned correctly, you will get a final grade (for example, 9.5). This indicates that your card’s centering is almost perfect but slightly off-center, which aligns with a Gem Mint 9.5 grade.

Important Notes

  • The tool will calculate the centering score based only on horizontal and vertical centering.

  • The final grade is based on the difference in centering from the perfect ideal (55/45 horizontal and 55/45 vertical).

  • To calculate the Front Centering we only consider the minor score between horizontal and vertical , same for the Back

  • The Final Centering Grade is calculate with average value of Front and Back

  • Misprint, miscut, or other imperfections are not considered in this centering calculation. They may affect other aspects of your card’s grade but not its centering score.

Final Thoughts

Using this tool, you can easily assess the centering of your trading cards and compare the result with the Arkezon Grading Scale. A higher centering score generally means a better grade, which could increase the card’s value. Keep in mind that centering is only one factor in card grading. Other aspects like surface quality, corners, edges, and print quality also contribute to the final grade of the card.
